Many workers are injured and killed at the workplace every day in the United States. Safety and health can add value to your business, your job, and your life. You can help prevent workplace injuries and illnesses by looking at your workplace operations, establishing proper job procedures, and ensuring that all employees are trained properly. One of the best ways to determine and establish proper work procedures is to conduct a job hazard analysis. A job hazard analysis is one component of the larger commitment of a safety and health management system.
Each industry, task or activity has hazards and something unique that similar activities or industries do not share. However, with minor similarities or a similar process among various organizations, we have a strong baseline and a way to track and compare with similar industries all around the world.
With our commitment, we dive deep into your specific process and find the key that your organization needs. With written programs in place specific to your organization, and with optional training or guidance, your organization will have all the appropriate tools to work safely, land bigger contracts, and most importantly keep your workers safe.
Liability is inevitable. As an employer you hold a great deal of responsibility for the people performing work, people within your work area or affected by your work and everything else related to your work. As an employer you are also facing difficulties when property is damaged, stolen, and/or misused.
ATG Safety understands that liability is inevitable. However, with proper analysis of the work area and its surroundings, a plan can be created to help manage all high risk areas to reduce any significant loss, injury, and lower costs for your organization.
Do you have an existing safety plan? Have you reviewed the instructions of your existing work plan? Our process often changes without us noticing. When a organization grows and improves its efficiency, our documents improve with it. However, at times, we do not do a thorough audit of every step in the process. From the human interaction in certain tasks to a tool or equipment being replaced or removed, every step needs to be analyzed.
To help avoid accidents and injuries, we analyze your process and documentation to make sure what is being planned to get the job done safely is actually happening. As well as making sure that our documentation supports the process and covers all the critical points to keep the workers free of any exposed hazards.
Despite all our efforts and commitment, we can be faced with challenges and at times find our selves dealing with major incidents. There are a lot of contributing factors to what causes an incident and why they can be reoccurring. When a minor incident or near miss is overlooked just because it was "minor", it can be a critical error. Every incident has causing factors, and every causing factor has contributing factors. When all of the components are thoroughly analyzed and appropriate actions are put in place, that is where we can find the root cause of why something happened the way it did.
ATG Safety will provide you with incident investigation techniques as well as set an additional set of expert eyes to review your incident or reoccurring incident and help establish controls and actions that can be taken to prevent future incidents.
Putting together a comprehensive emergency action plan that deals with those issues specific to your worksite is not difficult. It involves taking what was learned from your workplace evaluation and describing how employees will respond to different types of emergencies (Fires, Flood, Storms, Active Shooter, Equipment Failure, etc.) taking into account your specific worksite layout, structural features, and emergency systems. In this planning process and to meet frequently to review progress and allocate development tasks. The commitment and support of all employees is critical to the plan's success in the event of an emergency.
At a minimum, the plan must include but is not limited to the following elements [29 CFR 1910.38(c)]:
Means of reporting fires and other emergencies, Evacuation procedures and emergency escape route assignments, Procedures for employees who remain to operate critical plant operations before they evacuate, Accounting for all employees after an emergency evacuation has been completed
Rescue and medical duties for employees performing them, Names or job titles of persons who can be contacted.
With our help, we will write out a specific emergency response plan for your industry to ensure your organization has a effective and compliant plan.
The purpose of record keeping is to satisfy CFR 1904. The rule requires employers to record and report work-related fatalities, injuries, and illnesses. Recording or reporting a work-related injury, illness, or fatality does not mean that the employer or employee was at fault, that an OSHA rule has been violated, or that the employee is eligible for workers' compensation or other benefits.
There are many laws associated with this rule and need to be followed closely. With proper training on the employers requirements, it can ensure your compliance.
It is also a good idea to keep a record of all safety and health training. Documentation can also supply an answer to one of the first questions an incident investigator will ask: “Did the employee receive adequate training to do the job?”
Management provides the leadership, vision, and resources needed to implement an effective safety and health program. Management leadership means that business owners, managers, and supervisors:
When a strong Safety Management Plan is adopted, it will give all the team members a defined role in their responsibilities to ensure the safety culture is set to the organizations standards. Having this plan written out and followed effectively will improve the safety in your organization and impact the company in a positive manner.
Written safety plans or policies are records of how an establishment is protecting (or plans to protect) employees overall for a safety or health hazard. The words plan and program can be and have been used interchangeably. Both simply document what a facility is doing to keep its employees safe and healthful. With this plan in place, it will help identify the responsibilities of all key team members and includes any subject such as company specific training requirements, emergency response plans, and any high risk activity.
ATG Safety will draft a company specific Safety and Health Policy to ensure you have an appropriate plan and to help satisfy customer and contractors requirements.
